Raising money and awareness for issues around Parkinson’s, all accompanied by a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake!
Inspired by the Great British Bake Off, our Chocolate Ltd bakers got out their rolling pins and mixing bowls this week to create some delicious treats for their colleagues to enjoy in aid of Parkinson’s UK for Parkinson’s Awareness Week (any excuse for a bit of natural layering up in our books, too). There was a huge variety of fantastic chocolate cakes and biscuits and other sweet treats on offer.
As a result of our Charity Bake Sale we raised an epic £315.53!! – a big thank you to all who donated, it was a huge success! A fantastic morning raising awareness of Parkinson’s over tea and chocolate cake.
For anyone that hasn’t heard of Parkinson’s UK, it’s a brilliant organisation, one that’s really close to me and there just isn’t enough awareness or people talking about the condition. The charity’s aims are to improve the quality of life for people affected by Parkinson’s and find a cure for the condition. For those who don’t know, Parkinson’s disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years with main symptoms including tremor (shaking of particular parts of the body), slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles – it can be really scary if you are unsure what happens to that special someone to you living with the condition and to the carer, therefore having a charity such as Parkinson’s UK where they can provide first-hand support, this truly means a lot – and if we can help them to (one day soon to) find a cure, then, that’s even better!
